Science Verses Religion, What Is True?

Science Verses Religion

The majority of the people in the world hold one of two basic beliefs on when life began.  One belief is based on scientific and archeological evidence.  The other belief is based on the creation story as told in the book of Genesis.  “Which is myth, God or Evolution?  Louis Boundure, director of Frances Strasbourg Zoological Museum and professor of biology at the University of Strasbourg, stated: Evolution is a fairy tale for grownups.  This theory has helped nothing in the progress of science.  It is useless.”(14[pg. 3])

Due to the lack of evidence for the theory of evolution as presented by Darwin, scientists are starting to accept the idea of an intelligent designer.  This idea is the basic concept of the creation story as told in the book of Genesis.  “ ‘Certainly not all scientists agree that no Creator exists and that we as human beings are the product of random chance. In 1972 the California State Board of Education asked NASA director Wernher von Braun, who has been called the father of the American space program, for his thoughts on the origin of the universe, life and the human race. Here's how he responded: ‘For me, the idea of a creation is not conceivable without invoking the necessity of design. One cannot be exposed to the law and order of the universe without concluding that there must be design and purpose behind it all. In the world around us, we can behold the obvious manifestations of an ordered, structured plan or design . . .To be forced to believe only one conclusion—that everything in the universe happened by chance—would violate the very objectivity of science itself.’ . . . (Scott Huse, The Collapse of Evolution, 1997, pp. 159-160)”

“Many educated people accept the theory of evolution . . .   (O)ur existence as humans is one of the best arguments against it. According to evolutionary theory, the traits that offer the greatest advantage for survival are passed from generation to generation. Yet human reproduction itself argues powerfully against this fundamental premise of evolution.”  If evolution is how all life developed and the higher up the evolutionary latter, the more advanced the biological systems are, “. . . how is it that higher forms of life evolved with male and female sexes?  If humans are the pinnacle of the evolutionary process, how is it that we have the disadvantage of requiring a member of the opposite sex to reproduce, when lower forms of life - such as bacteria, viruses and protozoa - are sexless and far more prolific? If they can reproduce by far simpler methods, why can't we? If evolution is true, what went wrong?”

Evolution is based on the premise that from generation to generation, strong “. . . characteristics that offer a survival advantage . . .” were retained while weak traits were eliminated.  If this were the case, “. . . how can we explain the human infant?”

“There are thousands of species whose newborn can survive on their own within days and sometimes minutes after they are born.  “Many never even see their parents. Yet, among humans, an infant is utterly helpless—not for days but for up to several years after birth.

“A human baby is reliant on adults for the nourishment, shelter and care he or she needs to survive.  Meanwhile, caring for that helpless infant is a distinct survival disadvantage for adults, since giving of their time and energy lessens their own prospects for survival.

“If evolution is true, and humans are the pinnacle of the evolutionary process, why does a process as basic as human reproduction fly in the face of everything that evolution holds true?  Even Charles Darwin, whose theories about evolution took the world by storm, had second thoughts.  In his later years he reflected on what he had started: ‘I was a young man with unformed ideas. I threw out queries, suggestions, wondering all the time over everything; and to my astonishment the ideas took like wildfire. People made a religion of them’ (William Federer, America's God and Country, 1996, p. 199, emphasis added)”  (14 [ pg 2]).

There are many reasons to be more than skeptical beyond what we just looked at. “ Charles Darwin . . .  (who was the) British Naturalist who popularized the theory of evolution through natural selection . . .”  said the following:  “ ‘For I am well aware that scarcely a single point is discussed in this volume [Origin of Species] on which facts cannot be adduced, often apparently leading to conclusions directly opposite to those at which I arrived.’” Even Darwin doubted his own theory.

The simple truth of the matter is, there is not a shred of evidence that is available to prove this theory.  “‘To postulate that the development and survival of the fittest is entirely a consequence of chance mutations seems to me a hypothesis based on no evidence and irreconcilable with the facts. These classical evolutionary theories are a gross over-simplification of an immensely complex and intricate mass of facts, and it amazes me that they are swallowed so uncritically and readily, and for such a long time, by so many scientists without a murmur of protest.’ - Sir Ernst Chain (1906-1979), co-holder of the 1945 Nobel Prize for isolating and purifying penicillin, director of Rome's International Research Center for Chemical Microbiology, professor of biochemistry at Imperial College, University of London.”  ( 14[ pg 5]).

Why has the theory of evolution become so entrenched in todays society?  Why has evolution become so widely accepted, and why has the Bible come to be viewed with such hostility? What has changed?

Catholic Church Tries To Draw Christians Back To Rome And To Pre-Reformation Faith.

The following article applies to all denominations in the world today and it does not apply to the members of any church denomination.  It applies only to the OFFICIALS WHO RUN THE CHURCH.

So, before all of you critics head out to the shed for your pitch forks and torches, please read the article first.  Then you can head for the pitchforks.

We are all truly one church and as long as a person believes in Jesus Christ as the Son of God we are all one family under God.  The caveat here is that you must stand on the Word of God alone, the Bible.

"Five hundred years ago, Martin Luther posted his 95 Theses—and the world has never been the same since. But what has not changed is the Word of God and the truths in the Word that gave Luther the theological foundation to challenge Rome...Luther found the great truth of “justification by faith” alone.
"It was in regard to this truth, too, that Luther—defying the powers and principalities of the world and of the Roman hierarchy—appeared before the Diet of Worms, in 1521, and declared: “I cannot and will not retract, for it is unsafe for a Christian to speak against his conscience. . . . Here I stand, I can do no other.”
"And today faithful... (Christians)... also can do nothing either than stand on the Word of God over and against all unbiblical traditions and dogma.
"No question that Christianity has greatly advanced since Luther, freeing itself from centuries of superstition and false doctrine that not only distorted the gospel but, in fact, also usurped it.
"Today, however, in an age of ecumenism and pluralism, many of the distinctive truths that spurred the Reformation have become blurred, covered up under a fusillade of semantic chicanery that seeks to hide fundamental differences that have been resolved no more now than they were in Luther’s day. The prophecies of Daniel 7:23-258:9-12, and Revelation 13, 14, as well as the great news of salvation by faith as found in the book of Romans show why those faithful to the Bible must firmly adhere to the truths that our Protestant forefathers defended, even at the cost of their lives.
"...(W)e must rest upon the principle of sola scriptura, Scripture alone; ... we (must) adamantly reject all attempts to draw Christians back to Rome and to pre-Reformation faith. On the contrary, Scripture points us in the opposite direction"  (Rev. 18:4), and in that direction we proceed as we proclaim “the everlasting gospel” (Rev. 14:6to the world, the same everlasting gospel that inspired Luther 500 years ago."

We must not be drawn back to the Roman era where Rome ruled and dominated the Christian Church.  We must continue on the path of the post Roman era where the Christian Church drew away from the edicts of the Roman Empire, filled with pagan religious practices and continue on the path established by the early churches post Roman Empire.

Galatians 1:6-8(6) I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, (7) which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. (8) But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.

Galatians 4:8-10(8) But then, indeed, when you did not know God, you served those which by nature are not gods. (9) But now after you have known God, or rather are known by God, how is it that you turn again to the weak and beggarly elements, to which you desire again to be in bondage? (10) You observe days and months and seasons and years.  (New King James Version)

"Paul penned the book of Galatians because church members in Galatia were turning away from the true gospel and had embraced a false one (Galatians 1:6-7). Early on, Paul had to establish his credentials - that the gospel he preached did not have its source in any man, as Gnostic ideas do, but had come directly from Jesus Christ (verses 11-12). The Galatians were returning to the "weak and beggarly elements" (Galatians 4:9), referring to the demonism they had been involved in prior to their conversion (verse 8). The Gentile Galatians were observing certain days, months, seasons, and years that had nothing to do with God's holy days (verse 10), but were part of a system that elevated rites and ceremonies above the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, even while paying lip service to Christianity.

"Paul addresses a philosophy that venerated the Torah - and went so far as to teach that one could be justified by works of the law - but also involved astrology and receiving revelations from angels (Galatians 1:8). Because of the belief that the spirit of a person was trying to get back to heaven, worship of angels and astrology was a common tenet of Gnosticism, since angels and the patterns of stars and planets were believed to hold keys to this spiritual journey. Contrary to popular assumption, Paul does not condemn God's law in Galatians but a corrupt system that was severely affecting the church. That Gnostic system happened to include an emphasis on the Old Covenant at the expense of Jesus Christ's life, death, and teachings

"Gnostic Christians borrowed the idea of redemption through Christ, but rather than believing that He redeemed them from sin, they believed that He would redeem them from matter - that is, from the flesh, which they considered to be inherently evil. At the core of Gnosticism is the belief that knowledge, typically secret knowledge - knowledge from angels, from the stars and planets, from the ancients - was the path to holiness and salvation. They believed that the path of redemption was through knowledge, and that the worst evil was ignorance spiritual  than physical. Obviously, they overlooked man's incurably sick heart (Jeremiah 17:9), and the struggle that a person must undertake to overcome it. The Gnostics believed that the solution was found in greater understanding, rather than in a Savior and High Priest who justifies and guides us through a process of sanctification. In essence, Gnostics would rather learn than submit.

"What is more, the knowledge that the Gnostics sought always originated in something other than God and His Word. We know that knowledge itself is not the problem. In the Bible, knowledge is generally presented as a good thing. God goes so far as to say that Israel is "destroyed for lack of knowledge" (Hosea 4:6). However, the knowledge He means is the knowledge of Himself and of His way of life, not knowledge as an end in itself.

"In the New Testament, Paul tells the congregation at Rome that Israel has "a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge" (Romans 10:2). Israelites like to think they are serving God, but the way they go about it is contrary to the instructions that God gave them. Jesus Himself says that eternal life is to know God and Jesus Christ (John 17:3), by which He means the experience of an intimate relationship with the Father and the Son, something the Gnostics would never accept. They believed that a spiritual and thus pure God would have nothing to do with what they considered to be entirely evil matter and flesh. They did not care that God called His physical creation "good" - even "very good" - for they still saw it as corrupt, a prison from which to be liberated."  (David C. Grabbe, http://www.theberean.org/ 03/23/2017).

GOD’S FINALE JUDGEMENT OF THE WICKED.

1Thessalonians 1:9 says that “They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might”.  What is Paul’s message here?

The Bible records, see Acts 16 and 17, that Paul did not have a good experience when he visited Thessalonica.  Paul was beaten illegally and then put into prison.  They then forced him to leave the city by night because unbelieving Jews brought false charges against Paul.

Paul did not give up, he made several attempt to return but he was hindered by Satan.

“But when we were separated from you, brothers and sisters, for a short time (in presence, not in affection) we became all the more fervent in our great desire to see you in person. For we wanted to come to you (I, Paul, in fact tried again and again) but Satan thwarted us” (1 Thessalonians 2:17-18).

In this first letter to the Thessalonian Church Paul was concerned about the progress of the church and wanted to be with them to strengthen them in their faith and beliefs.

“All this is evidence that God’s judgment is right, and as a result you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering” (1 Thessalonians 1:5).

He wanted to reassure the Church that they were chosen by God.  He did not want the Thessalonians to give up.  He wanted them to look to their faith so that they could endure the persecution that was sure to come.  Paul knew that the people who persecuted them were wicked and would get their just due, but this was not the message he had for them here.

Paul was using God’s authentication and empowering of the gospel message when he wrote this letter.  He said that because of their “…perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and trials…” that they were enduring, it was proof that God chose them. (1 Thessalonians 1:4).  Because of this fact he was encouraging them to continue to endure these persecutions.

For this message to have power it is important to understand that the gospel that Paul preached were not his words, but the words came from God through the Holy Spirit and he constantly used this fact to authenticate and empower his words.  The church in Corinth he wrote:

“God has revealed these to us by the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.  For who among men knows the things of a man except the man’s spirit within him?  So too, no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.  Now we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things that are freely given to us by God.  And we speak about these things, not with words taught us by human wisdom, but with those taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual things to spiritual people.  The unbeliever does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him. And he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.  The one who is spiritual discerns all things, yet he himself is understood by no one.  For who has known the mind of the Lord, so as to advise him? But we have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:10-16).

Paul’s message was always that Jesus Christ made the promises to all those who follow Him that when the Holy Spirit came, He would empower the messengers so that others would believe and be saved to eternal life.  This is what this passage is based on.  It is an encouragement to all saints down through the last almost two thousand years that in difficult days of adversity and persecution, God’s word can serve to encourage us as the dark clouds of persecution gather for Christians around the world. This power of God will sustain believers when persecuted in the end times.

The message of Eternal destruction, is an important message based on the fact that it is mentioned throughout the Old and the New Testaments.  The problem is that the phrase “eternal destruction” is misunderstood by many.  More importantly, it is not the message we need to be taking away from this Biblical passage.  If this is done, the true message is hidden, which is what Satan wants to happen.

Because it is mentioned here, it is important to have a basic scriptural knowledge of what the phrase means.  There is a very simple answer when trying to describe what eternal destruction means, if you take each word individually.  Eternal means, “Continuing without interruption; perpetual”, (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/eternal ), forever, it will never change.

Destruction means “to cause (something) to end or no longer exist, to cause the destruction of (something), to damage (something) so badly that it cannot be repaired. (www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/destroy ).  When a human being meets “eternal destruction” as described in 1 Thessalonians 1:9, it means that that person will be damaged so badly, that he or she will no longer exist.  That that person cannot be repaired.  The existence of that person will come to an end.

The prophet Malachi explains it clearly:

““Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and the day that is coming will set them on fire,” says the Lord Almighty. “Not a root or a branch will be left to them.”” (Malachi 4:1).
The non-believers and the wicked will be burned to ashes to such an extent that there will be nothing left.  There will be no “root” or “branch left”.  When this happens there is no way that that person can exist, period.

CAN YOU CAN TALK TO THE DEAD.

The Christian Bible well documents the idea in many scriptures that there are angels who God directs to minister to humans. These angels do not contact humans on their own and humans cannot contact them. That is not without God's express permission. This is talking about God's angels, not all angels. There are angels that were created by God, that chose to rebel against God.

Satan is one of them. When he rebelled, he took one third of all angels that were created by God with him. These are what most Christians refer to as Fallen angels or demons. These angels, along with Satan, can and will communicate with you.

They will do this for one reason and one reason only. The reason is to deceive you. These angels that communicate with humans are not dead people. They are a creation of God, created as an angel that dwells in the spiritual realm.

The Bible does not teach nor will you find any scripture that supports the idea that the dead come back to help human beings in any way. In order to teach this doctrine, scripture must teach on the immortality of the human soul or spirit and it does not.

The immortality of the human soul or spirit is strictly a pagan idea not found anywhere in the Bible. Early in Christianity, during the early third and fourth centuries, it was incorporated into Christian doctrine, through the Roman Christian Church. Bible scripture plainly teaches that "For the living know that they will die; But the dead know nothing, And they have no more reward, For the memory of them is forgotten" (Ecclesiastes 9:5).

The "ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs for salvation" (Hebrews 1:14) are not dead people but are God's heavenly angels. The doctrine that man is concious after he dies is based today on modern spiritualism. Modern spiritualism and most of its beliefs are not rooted in Biblical scripture.

If there was any truth in the conciousness of man going on after death, why would not a loving God allow these spirits free will to contact those they love and warn them against the evils of this world? On that alone, the idea that people can talk to the dead makes no logical sense.

Bible scripture teaches that God's eternal plan is the salvation of man.  "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16). God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, who was then allowed by God to be cruelly tortured and executed. As a Christian, if you believe John 3:16, how could you logically believe that God would not allow the spirits of dead humans actively participate in man's salvation, and talk to their dead relatives and loved ones freely and without being conjured up by someone who claims they can talk to the dead, while taking your money.  That makes no sense what so ever.

THE CONTEMPORARTY CHRISTIAN DOCTRINE ON HEAVEN IS NOT BIBLICAL.

The contemporary Christian doctrine on heaven is quite simply a false doctrine. The Bible does not teach that when Christians die, they are immediately whisked to heaven to be with God. This is a Pagan doctrine instituted by the early church in order to make it easier for people to convert from their various religions, with their different beliefs and practices, to Christianity.

Contemporary Christian doctrine uses the verse, Genesis 5:24, "And Enoch walked with God: and he [was] not; for God took him", as proof of heaven. They interpret this verse as God taking Enoch up into heaven to be with Him. First of all, so far in the scriptures are concerned, there is no passage in the Bible which specifically teaches us that God has taken anyone into heaven to be with Him, except for His Son Jesus Christ.

The Bible does mention a resurrection where the righteous, including Christians, will be taken by Jesus into heaven at which time they will receive their reward. This will happen some time in the future, but not when we die.

Unless you interpret Biblical passages out of the context and the spirit of what the original text was trying to say, there is no scriptural proof of anybody going to heaven after they die.. In fact, Jesus tells us very explicitly that "No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven." (John 3:13). It is amazing how clear this passage is. How could Jesus make this simple statement if the verse, Genesis 5:24, is interpreted to mean that Enoch went to heaven to be with God? That would not make sense.

People say that the Bible is confusing. Yes it is to those who refuse to except and understand the truth and try to interpret the Bible using secular beliefs. This is one of the passages Christians simply refuse to see as a clear and simple message from God. All scriptures are messages from God. Each message contains information that mankind is supposed to use to understand the total picture.

If you were to interpret Genesis 5:24 as Enoch going to heaven then you have to admit that the Bible does contradict itself and therefore it is not reliable.

The Bible simply does not contradict itself. Man, ever since the inception of the Roman Christian Church, has been contradicting what the word of God has to say. He has been interpreting the Bible out of the context of the rest of the Bible. If what Jesus said in John 3:13 is true, then the only conclusion you can come to is that interpreting Genesis 5:24 to mean that Enoch was taken up into heaven to be with God is the wrong interpretation.

If you take each Hebrew word from the original scripture and translate them with the most common usage, in the spirit of the rest of the scriptures, while at the same time completely ignoring secular philosophies and contemporary Doctrine, it reads, "Enoch walked God, God took", (Chanowk halak 'elohiym 'elohiym laqach). The Hebrew word "halak" interpreted "walk" can also have the common translation, " to live" as in "a manner of life" or "a way to live your life". The Hebrew word "laqach" interpreted "took" can be interpreted to mean "accept". So this verse could actually be interpreted " Enoch lived a life according to God and God accepted him". Putting it in context with what the rest of the scriptures teach, this scripture is telling us that Enoch had a relationship with God and God recognized him as him as a righteous person.

In Genesis 5:24 God is telling us that a righteous person lives his life a certain way. If you ignore the interpretation that this scripture is proof of heaven, we can see that this ties in with what Jesus was trying to tell Nicodemus in John chapter 3. Nicodemus thought that Jesus was teaching that a person had to be literally born, as in from the womb. Jesus was actually teaching that in the Jewish sense, being born again was when one brings another person over to his way of life, to convert someone. He said that this change was not simply being baptized by water but a person had to change his spirit. He had to change the vital principal by which a he feels, thinks and decides. A person needed to change his actions and his relationship with God.

Enoch was made righteous by living his life according God’s ways. Along with all Christians, he will be resurrected and will serve with the rest of the saints during the millennial reign of Jesus Christ, here, on earth, in the Kingdom of God. He will have this privilege along with the patriarchs and the prophets of the old testament because of the way they lived their lives. Enoch was not taken into heaven to live with God.

In John chapter 3 Jesus told Nicodemus that unless a person changes his way of thinking he would not enter the kingdom of heaven. Even in this passage Christians interpret this as proof that when a Christian dies he goes to heaven. If you understand what the Jesus taught about the kingdom of heaven, you would know that this kingdom is located on earth and will not be established until sometime in the future. If this kingdom is not yet in existence, how can you die and go to it?

Genesis 5:24 and John 3: 1-18 have nothing at all to do with anybody going to heaven. Enoch did not go to heaven and Christians do not go to heaven when they die because Jesus clearly says that ". . . No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven." ( John 3: 13). It is a lesson on our relationship with God.

If we do not go to heaven when we die, what does happen? Death has probably been on the mind of every human being since the time when Cain killed his brother Able. Adam and Eve were living under the first lie that Satan told them, that "..."You will not surely die"...". In the very beginning God told Adam and Eve a very basic truth. That truth is the fact that man is not immortal. Man can die!

And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die." (Genesis 2: 16-17)

But Satan told Eve a different story.

Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, "Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’? And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’" Then the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. (Genesis 3: 1-6)

Satan, the serpent in the Garden of Eden, is questioning Eve on commands that God had Given to her and Adam. God had instructed them that they were not to determine for themselves what is good and what is evil. God wanted them to come to Him so that He could instruct them, teaching them what is right and what is wrong.

Satan on the other hand told Eve that she didn’t need to go to God for answers. He said that they could make decisions on their own. That they could determine for themselves what was right and what was wrong. Satan convinced Eve that God was lying to them. Satan told Eve that God did not want them ". . . knowing good and evil . . ." because they ". . . will be like God . . .". Satan told Eve that God was withholding information from them because God did not want them to become like God. Eve, being the vain woman that she was, decided she wanted to be like God.

God told Adam and Eve that if they turned away from Him, did not look to Him for instruction and decided to make choices apart from God, this would eventually lead to their death. They would cease to exist. They would be no more. God did not tell them that they would stop living as they were but would continue on in some other plane of existence whether it be heaven or hell. God made it plane and simple. He said they would die.

When Adam and Eve decided to follow an alternative life style, similar to the way we live our lives today, apart from God and the Bible, they insured the truth in the statement made by God that ". . . you surely will die . . .". As did with Adam and Eve and Enoch, that is what happens to us today, we ". . . surely will die . . .".

Adam committed a sin. That sin was turning his back on God. Because of this, man, down through the ages has been dying. We do not know how to act. We do not know how to live our lives so we can live forever.

Look at the world today. It is a disgusting mess. Wars, famines, disease, murders, rapes, drug abuse, homosexuality/aides, are all man made. If Christians actually did live by the laws of God they wouldn’t die. The simple fact is that we do not because we can’t. Mankind has been killing himself down through the ages all because Adam and Eve decided they could determine right from wrong. When Adam and Eve sinned, God sentenced mankind, all of mankind including Christians, to a punishment. That punishment we are all sentenced to is to die a first death.

Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned. (Romans 5:12)

God is telling us a simple truth, death will come to all men, this would include Christians. Death is man’s punishment for the sin of Adam. Because of Adam all men will endure that punishment.

What kind of punishment would it be if that when we die we are immediately whisked to heaven to be with Jesus Christ and God. That would be no punishment at all. The Bible does tell us that we die. It does not say Christians die and then immediately go to heaven. It is not in scripture. This doctrine is simply false.

This book will look at what the Bible actually says about heaven and life after death. It will look in the Gospels and see what Jesus actually taught about what happens to Christians after they die. It will look at what the Apostles believed and how Jesus and the Apostles based their teachings on what is revealed in the Old Testament.

Do not fear though, God does offer eternal life to all men.

THE CONTEMPORARTY CHRISTIAN DOCTRINE ON HEAVEN IS NOT BIBLICAL

CHRISTIANITY IS A FACTUAL RELIGION WHERE BY TRUTHS CAN BE PROVEN IN A COURT OF LAW.

THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY TO FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU WHEN YOU DIE.

That is by studying the scriptures, the word of God. If you do not understand what the scriptures are trying to tell you, you will be in for a big surprise at the end of this age!
Contemporary Christianity would have you believe that when you die your soul and\or your spirit goes on living separate from your body. Christians believe that the good go to heaven and the bad go to hell. The problem is, the Bible does not teach this. The only way you can establish this concept is by taking scriptures and interpreting them out of context. Your soul and your spirit do not exist separate from the body. Your body is powered by your spirit which in turn generates your soul. Without the body, the spirit has nothing to power and therefore the soul can not be generated.

Contemporary Christian doctrine teaches that dying is like going through a door. You will often hear the phrase when someone is near death, "he/she is a deaths door". The problem is what Christians believe is on the other side of that door. Contrary to popular belief, nothing is on the other side of the door. When we go through deaths door, we do not meet with God, we are not with Jesus. Bad people do not go to hell. You simply no longer exist.

There is a joke that says, " there are only two things in life that are certain, death and taxes.". This is more true than most people realize . Both death and taxes are two evils that man imposed on himself. Taxes are imposed on the people by their governments. Death was imposed on man because the first man, Adam, chose to disobey God. Because of disobedience, all men are destined to die a first death .

Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned. (Romans 5:12)

This is a punishment by God that must be endured by "all men". It would not be much of a punishment that if when you died you went immediately to be with God. The Bible tells us that ". . . because all sinned . . ." that ". . . death spread to all men . . ." . Yes, the Bible tells us that because of Adam everyone, even Christians, will suffer the punishment of death. But Christian, do not despair because we have hope.

But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 5: 19)

The Bible does teach us about eternal life. It is just not the way contemporary Christianity teaches it. The Bible does teach that eternal life is offered to all men through the grace of God. It does not teach that this eternal life starts as soon as we die. Much more in God’s plan for mankind has to happen before we are given eternal life and get to be with God and His Son Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior.

ABSTAIN, RESTRAIN, REFRAIN, WHAT DO THEY MEAN IN RESPECT TO CHRISTIANITY?

Abstinence is a word that is used in Christianity that does more to bringing harm in leading people to Christ than it does good.  The reason probably is that when and where it is used it is not with the full understanding of what scripture actually says.  As with many issues in life, a lot of Christians try to boil them down into passages that are taken out of context and then misinterpreted to fit their own agendas.

The definition of abstain from THE MIRIAM WEBSTER ONLINE DICTIONARY - abstain is; "to refrain deliberately and often with an effort of self-denial from an action or practice".  To fully understand this definition, refrain needs to also be defined, it has a meaning to "keep under control" " to limit, restrict, or keep under control".  The other word is "refrain" which means "To hold oneself back".

These definitions all dealing with abstaining do not infer the complete lack or absence of an action, they all infer control and moderation within the context of the situation.  Sex and alcohol are two things that Christian doctrines come down heavy on.  In the spirit of the scriptures and the word of God, the Bible does not condemn all sex and drinking as sin.

This position is untenable because the Bible does not teach this.  Sex and  alcohol themselves are not evil. The problem is they can and in a lot of situations involve abuse.  These abuses lead to poverty, violence, and early death in the short term, but in the long term it leads everyone away from God which will ultimately result in eternal death.  It is not the sex and the alcohol, it is the abuse of these and those who cannot restrain themselves from causing abuse of any type should abstain from any activity that could lead themselves to eternal death.
